A modern day spin on the Neo-Noir films of the 1940’s and 50’s. Set during one night as the bodyguard and driver (Detail) for a contemptible gangster struggles to keep his boss alive after the rest of his henchmen turn on him, promising that he will never see the sun again.
The film is framed through the Detail’s interview with police as he turns himself in hoping for leniency, the two officers question him on the day and night which changed his life forever.
Jumping from high tension moments to more quiet and surreal experiences on the night to end all nights the Detail is thrown into situations which constantly confront, confuse and concern him, from trying to find a new vehicle to making it harder to track to standing guard as his boss tries to make one final deal with his biggest rival.
Taking influence from Kiss Me Deadly, After Hours and Blue Velvet, The Devil’s Detail is story which aims to use the conventions of the gangster film to tell a larger story about how those in power and those who are complicit to their actions.
